If you can track it, you can improve it.

The simple act of bringing awareness to certain aspects of an activity allows us to see how well we are doing it. Want to improve your finances? Track your budget. Want to improve your sleep? Start tracking. Your weight? Track it.

For years I’ve taught beginner and intermediate rock climbers how to nail the basics in order to make significant gains in their climbing. One favorite excersise has to do with tracking how often their partner can hear their feet over the course of a climb. This simple tracking method has major impact on bringing awareness to technique overall and is straightforward to implement.
